Auspicious Brew Turns 6: A Four-Event Anniversary Week in Dover

Halloween week in Dover has an extra reason to head downtown this year. Auspicious Brew, the kombucha brewery at 1 Washington Street, is turning six, and it is marking the occasion with four separate events running from Thursday, October 29 through Sunday, November 1. Here is what is on the schedule, when to go, and what to check before you head out.

A brewery that opened in November 2020

According to the brewery's own anniversary announcement, Auspicious Brew opened its brick-and-mortar location in November 2020, which is why the birthday lands right around Halloween. The brewery describes itself on its website as New Hampshire's first kombucha brewery. Its tasting room and event space serve its kombuchas along with local beers, wine, craft cocktails and a farm-to-table food menu, and its products are also sold in restaurants and stores around the state.

The tasting room, retail shop and dog-friendly patio are listed on the brewery's site as open Tuesday through Sunday:

• Tuesday to Thursday: 5 to 9 PM
• Friday: 5 to 11 PM
• Saturday: 2 to 11 PM
• Sunday: noon to 6 PM

The anniversary week schedule

The brewery's announcement, as posted on the Stay Work Play New Hampshire events calendar, lays out four nights of celebration. Tickets are on sale for all four events, so if one of them is a must for you, it makes sense to buy ahead rather than count on the door.

Thursday, October 29: Live music at 7 PM. The week opens with a lineup of three local acts.

Friday, October 30: Live music at 8 PM. A second night of live music with another set of three performers.

Saturday, October 31: Halloween House Party at 8 PM. This is the centerpiece for anyone looking for a costumed night out on Halloween itself. The listing promises a drag show, DJs playing dance music, face paint and fairy hair, and a costume contest. The Stay Work Play calendar lists the party as running from 8 PM to 11:59 PM.

Sunday, November 1: Auspicious Fest from noon. The week closes with a daytime festival of local music, with six acts named in the announcement, plus flash tattoos from an artist with Seven Horses Tattoo.

A note on Auspicious Fest's end time

The two event listings do not agree on when the Sunday festival wraps up. The Auspicious Fest calendar entry shows a time block of noon to 4 PM, while the description on that same page says the music runs from noon to 6 o'clock. The brewery's regular Sunday hours are also noon to 6 PM. If you are planning to arrive in the afternoon, confirm the end time with the brewery at (603) 953-7240 or through its ticket listing before you go.

Planning a Halloween weekend around it

Because the four events are spread across four days, you can treat the week a few different ways:

• A weeknight show. Thursday's 7 PM start is the earliest of the evening events and an easy option if you live nearby and want to be home at a reasonable hour.
• A full Halloween night. Saturday's house party starts at 8 PM, which leaves time for dinner first. Plan your costume around a contest.
• A relaxed Sunday. Auspicious Fest is the only daytime event of the week, and it falls on the same day that Daylight Saving Time ends in 2026 (November 1), so you get an extra hour that morning.

Auspicious Brew is at 1 Washington Street, Suite 1103, in Dover, NH 03820. The address puts it in downtown Dover, so if you are making a night of it, plan your ride home before the first drink.

Before you go

• Buy tickets for the event you want; the brewery says tickets are live for all four.
• Confirm the Sunday end time, since the two listings differ.
• Check age requirements and any door policies directly with the brewery, as the event listings do not state them.
• Leave the car at home if you plan to drink anything other than kombucha.

Six years is a milestone for any small business, and this week is a good excuse to see what a kombucha brewery's tasting room looks like when it is in full party mode.
