Halloween Weekend in New Hampshire 2026: Parades, Haunts, and Family Fun
Halloween lands on a Saturday in 2026, which turns it into a full weekend. New Hampshire has events for every comfort level, from a pumpkin path for small children to one of the country's best-known haunted attractions. Here are the confirmed events for Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31. Times and tickets can change, so check each organizer's site before you go.
Portsmouth: trick-or-treat and the Halloween Parade
The City of Portsmouth has set citywide trick-or-treating for Friday, October 30, from 5 to 8 p.m.
The next night, the Portsmouth Halloween Parade steps off on Saturday, October 31, at 7 p.m. The parade organizers describe it as a grassroots, all-inclusive community celebration that marches through downtown, with participants gathering at Peirce Island by Prescott Park. Anyone can dress up and march, and no sign-up is required. The parade is organized by a private nonprofit group, not the city, and its website has rules and a route map.
If you are staying over, the Ale House Inn and Hotel Portsmouth are directory listings within walking distance of downtown. After the parade, The Portsmouth Brewery and Jimmy's Jazz and Blues Club are two downtown directory listings; check their sites for Halloween hours and any reservations.
Lee: Haunted Overload
At DeMeritt Hill Farm in Lee, Haunted Overload is a large outdoor haunted attraction. Visit NH lists two options this weekend:
- Day Haunt, Friday, October 30, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., listed at $16.
- Main Event, Saturday, October 31, 6:45 to 9 p.m., listed at $40.
The Main Event is meant to frighten, so it is not for young children. Buy tickets through the official Haunted Overload site.
Bretton Woods: Halloweekend
In the White Mountains, the Omni Mount Washington Resort hosts Halloweekend on Friday and Saturday, October 30 and 31. The resort's event description includes craft rooms, pumpkin carving contests, hayrides, a costume parade, and an adults-only party at The Cave, the resort's lower-level bar. The resort notes that all activities are subject to change, so check the Bretton Woods events page for the schedule.
Tamworth: a family-friendly "BOO!"
For younger kids, the Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm in Tamworth runs "BOO!" A Family-Friendly Haunting through October 31, Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free. Activities include a Pumpkin Path on the Binsack Trail and a black cat scavenger hunt.
Tips
- Check your own town. Trick-or-treat dates and times are set town by town; many New Hampshire communities post them on their websites.
- Book a room early. Portsmouth is busy on parade night.
- Dress warmly. Late-October evenings can be cold, especially for outdoor haunts and parades.
- Mind the time change. Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, right after Halloween.
